Digital Scraps - 2010

This is from a high school assignment where we had to create artwork for the cover of a made up album. Being the dorky kid that I was, I decided to make up my own band called "FrRe", the first four letters from my internet username. Although it's nothing special, I like to look back at it every now and then, fancying the idea of actually being in a band despite have little to no musical talent.

As much as I would love to say that this pose and proportion just came to me, a reference was used. Still, this was one of my first successful pieces that I used the computer to color in.

Being In High School - 2010

This series is all about high school and some of the feelings attached. There's love, jealousy, internal struggles, friendship, dreams, studying, and feeling alone. It never goes away, but at that age everything's intensified.

Stressed - 2010

Probably my favorite photo manipulation, mainly because the base photos weren't that great to begin with making it the biggest transformation. I feel like I captured the emotion that I set out to.

This photo manipulation of myself kind of goes back to the theme of going crazy inside, though it is more "literal".

Closet - 2009 - 2013

So this was originally made in high school. I never liked it, but my art teacher felt otherwise. As an artist I would always question why people sometimes found what I didn't like enjoyable and that the things that I really thought were good just alright. It's always a struggle. This summer I picked it up and decided to add color along with 3 years of new experience. It's debate on whether or not I like it more than the original.

Sketchbook - Shoes : 2010

I'd like to think that this was a statement about what girls are supposed to wear vs. what boys can wear. It would explain the gender symbols in the background. I always enjoyed dabbling into footwear.

Cow

This cow, this stupid cow, it took me a year to complete, because I would pick it up work on, let it sit, and work on it some more. I saw it going place in the rodeo art competition, now it just sits somewhere in my closet. Still, I quite like this cow, it was a turning point.

Bandaged Foot, Student, Warped Perspective (tentative titles) : 2009

These were some of my favorites at the time. I don't remember the idea behind the one with the bandaged foot, but I enjoyed creating something with different media (paint and prismacolor pencils).

Cranes and Cats

A photo that I found of the digital piece that I did of a cat lurking behind a dollhouse. The natural distortions of the paper seem to add to the piece.

This one didn't quite make it to the top of my 1000 Cranes series, but it shows how I was playing with proportions, fancying the idea of a cat peering into our lives.

Past Greeting Cards

From the point where I was able to make decent drawings special occasion cards have been my go to gift.

Self-Portrait -- 2009

This was my first time working with printing. It's a self-portrait and it could be concluded that this is reflection of how I viewed myself at the time. Either that or I wasn't really good at proportions.
